Kazakhstan has a visa-free regime with the following countries: Azerbaijan, Georgia (for a maximum stay of up to 90 days), Kyrgyzstan, Thailand (tourist visa is issued at the airport for the period of 15 days), Mongolia (for a maximum stay of up to 90 days), Armenia (for a maximum stay of up to 90 days), Belarus, Moldova (for a maximum stay of up to 90 days), Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey (for a maximum stay of up to 30 days) and the Ukraine (for a maximum stay of up to 90 days). The citizens of all other countries have to obtain the entry visa.

In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 26, 2015 № 483 citizens of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, France, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Monaco, Singapore, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Japan are exempt from visa requirements for visits up to 15 calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border between July 16, 2015 to December 31, 2017.

Foreign nationals of the following countries can apply for single and double entry tourist visas to Kazakhstan without the letter of invitation and the number of visa support: Australia, Austria, Luxembourg, Hungary, Greece, Israel, Qatar, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Singapore, Poland, Croatia, Korea, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Malta, Slovenia, Romania, the USA, the UK, Slovakia, Oman, Finland, France, Germany, Malaysia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Estonia and Japan.

According to the general visa processing procedure, a foreign national has to apply to the diplomatic representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the country of his/her residence and submit the valid passport (or international travel document), a filled-in visa application form (you can get it from the diplomatic representatives or download it from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan – www.mfa.kz – or from the website of the diplomatic representatives, if there is any), one passport sized photograph (color or black-and-white), amount of consular fee (paid in cash), as well as a copy of the invitation letter with the marked number of visa support of the Department of Consular Services of the MFA or an original of the private invitation, issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The exact amount of the consular fee for the issuance of the Kazakh visa depends on the civilian, applying for it. However, there exist some regulations, set up by the Government of the RK. Thus, the amount of consular fee

— 10 to 30 US Dollars for single Kazakhstan entry/exit visa — or its extension for up to three months;
— 20 to 60 US Dollars for single Kazakhstan entry/exist visa or exit/entry visa — or its extension for up to three months;
— 30 to 90 US Dollars for double Kazakhstan entry/exist visa or exit/entry visa — or its extension for up to three months;
— 35 to 105 US Dollars for triple Kazakhstan entry/exist visa — or exit/entry visa or its extension for up to three months;
— 100 to 200 US Dollars for multiple Kazakhstan visa or its extension for up to 1 year, and 200 to 400 US Dollars for its extension for up to 2 years;
— 20 to 40 US Dollars for single tourist visa for up to 30 days, and 30 to 60 US Dollars for double tourist visa for up to 60 days;
— 10 to 30 US Dollars for transit visa for up to 60 days.

The time period of scrutinizing of the submitted documents and visa issuance depends on availability of the concrete embassy (consulate) and may last from 2-3 to 5-7 days, but usually it does not exceed 1 week.
